Course Overview

Our comprehensive Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) training course is designed to equip you with the knowledge required to administer first aid effectively to your clients. By completing this course, you will not only gain the confidence to respond swiftly and competently in emergency situations but also deepen your understanding of your legal and ethical responsibilities as a therapist.

Under The Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 and in alignment with Professional Codes of Conduct, it's crucial for therapists to be well-prepared and compliant with safety standards. The Emergency First Aid at Work course will provide you with the necessary insights and tools to meet these obligations, ensuring the well-being of your clients.

Led by a retired Paramedic, Clive Greedy, with over 30 years of frontline experience in both the NHS and private sectors—this First Aid course offers a unique experience-led approach to emergency care.

Rather than relying on standard slides and textbook scenarios, this course focuses on real-world application, teaching you what a Paramedic would actually want a First Aider to do before emergency services arrive.

Whether you're new to First Aid or renewing your certification, you'll leave with the confidence to act effectively and decisively in an emergency.

Upon successful completion of the EFAW training, you will be awarded a 3-year Certificate.

Course Syllabus

• Roles and responsibilities of a first aider
• First aid kits and record-keeping
• Infection Control
• Basic life support including CPR and Automated External Defibrillation (AED) awareness
• Effectively manage an unconscious casualty
• Managing seizures and anaphylaxis
• How to respond to a choking casualty
• Dealing with wounds and bleeding
• Prevention and control of shock
• Recognising the presence of common major illnesses
• Understand how to provide treatment for minor injuries (cuts, grazes, minor burns or scalds)

Assessment Criteria

You will be assessed throughout the day to ensure you are providing safe First Aid. You will receive your Certificate (valid for 3 years) at the end of the day to take away with you.

Clive Greedy

Clive Greedy - First Aid Instructor

Before retiring, I had been a Paramedic for over 30 years. In that time I have worked for both the NHS and the private sector. Having spent 12 years with the NHS I then turned to the private sector and worked in Film, TV, events and many other varied environments. I am a trained close protection Paramedic and I have had the privilege of seeing all aspects of emergency medicine, finishing my career as a specialist clinical trainer for many different ambulance services around the country.

I have been married for 36 years to Sara, have 2 grown up sons and live in Evesham

When it comes to delivering First Aid, I tend to come at it from a different angle. Instead of being the trainer who relies on PowerPoint slides and presentations, I teach based on experience (30 years worth). My delivery is based on what I, a Paramedic, would like you the First Aider to do for the casualty before I arrive. Learning should be interesting, informative, accurate and above all fun.
