Stress Busting Massage Techniques
We’ve all heard the old adage of dragging your heels, plodding along or walking through treacle. When we think about stress relieving massage, an area of the body that often gets overlooked and missed is the ankle and lower leg. Here we share a really simple technique which leaves your client feeling like they are walking on air and puts the spring back in their step!
The focus here is on the retinaculum in the ankle. The retinaculum is a band of thickened fascia which supports the tendons. The name retinaculum, or plural retinacula, is taken from the Latin verb retinere, to retain.
It can be surprisingly relaxing to release tension held in this area.
